Simple Exercises You Can Do at Home
Despite the number of gyms and fitness studios sprouting like mushrooms everywhere, people still find it hard to keep a fitness routine that involves going to one. It may be because of the cost, distance or travel time, or for lack of motivation, some people are just simply not wired to go to a gym regularly. However, if you really want to be fit and healthy, regular exercise is a must, and to make things more convenient for you, there are simple exercises that you can do without having to go out or shell some money for expensive gym memberships.
Here are some exercises that you can do right in the comfort of your own home:
Walking/ running/ jogging
The three mentioned above are perhaps the easiest and most inexpensive exercise that does not require expensive equipment. It is one of the most popular cardio exercise and is ideal for anyone who is just getting started in having a physical regimen.
Pushups
Though pushups is one of those exercises which is not very high on people’s favourite list of things to do, this is one of the best exercises for building your body’s strength. Pushups work your back, pecs and triceps together with almost every muscle in your upper body. Try to do a few reps for a few minutes, increasing your reps every time you feel that you can already do more. If a full vertical pushup is too hard for you, you can try doing it on your knees first before keeping your legs straight. You can also try doing this standing against a wall, using the wall as your resistance.
Jump rope
Though this may be a popular game among kids, jumping rope is a great cardio workout that works your calve muscles. This a great workout for your calves and leg muscles that you can do in intervals every workout session. Be sure to stretch before doing this so that your leg muscles do not get cramped or strained while you are doing the jumps already.
Squats
This is a very basic yet effective exercise that are done even by hardcore fitness aficionados that you see in the gym. Use your arms to balance your body weight, you can have great results, and you can always increase your reps if you want a more high-intensity routine.
Though you are only doing these exercises in your home, it is still important that you wear the proper workout outfit when working out. Gym wear is advisable such as track pants or gym shorts. There is nothing like having the right clothing to put you in an upbeat mood for working out, so even if you aren’t really in the gym or a fitness studio, you are able to bring the environment right in your own personal space.
